A place to breathe in the mountains

We warmly welcome you
from 8 June

Vita Alpina is a place to slow down — where nature, silence and the mountains come together effortlessly. Tucked away in the charming alpine village of Alpette, in beautiful Piedmont, our home invites you to step away from the rush of everyday life and reconnect with what truly matters. Here, you set the pace. Whether you come to hike or stay active, read in the garden, or simply enjoy the quiet — at Vita Alpina everything is possible.

Alongside our bed & breakfast, we also offer trail stays for those who love to experience the mountains in a more active way. These stays are always small-scale, personal, and fully tailored to your wishes and level.

Bed & breakfast

Our bed & breakfast is first and foremost a warm and peaceful place, open to everyone who values nature, simplicity and authenticity. You’ll stay in a charming house with a garden, where relaxation and genuine hospitality are at the heart of the experience.

Each morning, we serve a carefully prepared breakfast, with attention to quality and fresh ingredients. Dinner is available on request. We welcome our guests personally and are always happy to share tips about the region and the many activities to enjoy nearby.

Trail stays

At selected moments throughout the year, we organise trail stays in different locations across the region. These stays are designed for anyone who loves being in the mountains. Whether you are an experienced trail runner or taking your first steps into trail running, you are very welcome.

There is no fixed programme. Instead, we offer a wide range of route suggestions and ideas, allowing you to head out each day in a way that suits your level, energy and interests. Alongside this, we host clinics where we enjoy sharing our experience and knowledge of trail running.

Depending on accommodation availability, you are free to choose your own arrival and departure dates, with a minimum stay of three nights.

Trail stays - Ala di Stura (Piemonte)

At the moment, two trail stays are offered at Vita Alpina.

These trail stays are primarily in Dutch and French.
That said, guests of other languages are more than welcome. The essence of a trail stay goes beyond words — it is about being outdoors, sharing the experience, and moving at a natural pace in the mountains.

More info about them on the Dutch or French page.

Do not hesitate to contact us for further information.

Vita Alpina is constantly evolving.

In the future, new trail stays may see the light of day, each with its own rhythm, theme and focus — always rooted in the mountains and their surroundings.

In addition, it is possible to create a tailor-made trail stay (à la carte) in the Piemonte region (and elsewhere), fully adapted to your wishes, availability and interests.
These custom trail stays are offered on request and developed in close consultation.

👉 Feel free to contact us if you would like to explore these possibilities.

About us

We are Laura & Florian. For many years, the mountains have been a natural part of our lives — a place to move, to slow down, and to breathe. What began as time spent outdoors gradually evolved into a way of living.

With Vita Alpina, we want to share that experience and create a place where people feel welcome and at ease, whether they come to rest and recharge or to enjoy an active life outdoors.

We love spending time in the mountains ourselves, especially through trail running, and we know the trails and the valley intimately. We share local knowledge informally, leaving room for everyone to move at their own pace and create their own experience.

Food and recovery also play an essential role in our approach. We value nourishing, high-quality meals that help the body recover after a day outdoors, and see rest as an essential part of an active life. Everything flows from a shared passion for the mountains — and a desire to pass that passion on in a way that feels natural and genuine.

For us, Vita Alpina is a place where mountains, movement and slowing down come together — and where guests are invited to share in what has become second nature to us.

Surroundings

Alpette lies in a peaceful valley in Piedmont, far from mass tourism. The area is perfectly suited for hiking, trail running, cycling, rock climbing and winter activities. Each season brings its own atmosphere and character.

The village marks the entrance to the Valle Orco, a long and layered mountain valley that gradually opens from lower, forested areas toward high alpine landscapes. It forms a natural gateway to the Gran Paradiso massif.
In the lower part of the valley, the Orco River shapes the landscape. Along its banks, broad, sculpted plains have formed, turning into flower meadows in season and filled with open light. The valley slopes show a clear contrast: cooler, densely forested north-facing sides opposite warmer, sunlit southern slopes with lighter, more open woodland.
Further upstream, the character of the valley slowly becomes more alpine. Around Ceresole Reale, Valle Orco takes on a new dimension: the valley narrows, forests give way to open slopes and alpine meadows. From here, the road winds upward to the Colle del Nivolet, a high mountain pass leading to a wide plateau of lakes and expansive alpine scenery. The pass serves as a natural gateway to the high mountains and the heart of the Gran Paradiso.

What defines Valle Orco is its unspoilt character. Large-scale tourism is absent, allowing villages and hamlets to retain their simplicity. The valley appeals to those who are looking for authenticity, quietness and a direct connection with the mountains.
